Part 1
Students will complete guided notes by watching videos of content for each unit. These notes must be kept in the 'NOTES' section of their green binder.
Part 2
Students will complete the additional 'MUST DO' assignments in the unit. These will be assignments in which students practice the content. Additional 'SHOULD DO' assignments are offered for students that need more practice or students that are ahead of schedule.
Part 3
Students will complete a Mastery Assessment to determine whether or not they understand the content. Mrs. Boyer will provide feedback and confirm when a student is ready to move on. If a student fails the assessment (70% or less) they will have the opportunity to complete a new Mastery Assessment.

Falling behind? Getting it?

In {insert class name}, we are working on {insert the name of the unit}. I am supposed to be on Lesson {___ target lesson}. Currently, I am on lesson {___}, which is {on pace, ahead of pace, behind pace}.

Must do
This all means that my class may work a little differently than you're used to. Instead of using the traditional "one-size-fits-all" model of teaching every day this year, I will:
-
Use videos to supplement in-person learning. Sometimes I'll record my own videos; other times, I'll share great videos that I've found online. You can watch these videos in class or at home and re-watch them as many times as you need in order to understand.
-
Help you learn at your own pace. Learning takes time, so I'll give you the time you need. You won't have to wait if you're ready to move on quickly. And if you need more time or support, I'll provide that. You'll see everything you need to learn during the year but learn it your way.
-
Make sure you understand. I don't want you to move on to advanced content until you're ready for it. So, after each lesson, I'll give you a "mastery check" to make sure you understand. If you understand, you can move on - and if you don't understand yet, I'll help you and give you another chance to show your mastery.
This approach is inspired by the work of the Modern Classrooms Project. Here's how they explain it:
